Like Me Light House opens March 10

Like Me Lighthouse, a center for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at 3909 Main St., Kansas City, Mo.
The center is opening with the help of country singer and songwriter Chely Wright, who was born in Kansas City and raised in Wellsville, Kan.
A benefit concert featuring Wright, Alan Cumming, Hal Sparks, Jennifer Knapp and others is at 7 p.m. at University of Missouri-Kansas City's Student Union Theater, 5100 Cherry St. Tickets can be purchased at
Like Me Lighthouse will provide referrals to other LGBT resources in the area and access to the suicide prevention and crisis hotline, the Trevor Project. The center's hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
